RP Anniversary: Ryou

Next up for October!!

Sketched on paper, flat color in SAI. Next picture in a series I'm doing, drawing the kids from mine and Gem's RP a year to the day they were first used, got it? Good!

I say first used. This will be the case MOST of the time. There are a few instances where the kids are born and it's stated that they're born, but for one reason or another they aren't used until a later day. If that happens I'll be posting them on the day that they are BORN. If they're used the first time on a different day then I'll state that in the description, or on the picture itself.

As with all first borns you all get the story of how her parents meet.  Ilyamay anyone who bothered to read WoLaD besides Gem would know is Deannalee's ancestor, the one who fights with Hidama's ancestor, Elliot, over who the true heir to Kashoku's bloodline is. UnDark stirs up the fighting, and this eventually leads to Durnam, Ellio's younger brother who tried to remain neutral in the fight, to kill Ilyamay's daughter, who was trying to kill Elliot's son, Ethendore.  Though he immediately mourned Trudine, only doing what he did to protect his nephew, the grieving Ilyamay suffocates Durnam to death, killing him, only to go into labor and give birth to her son Jayden that night.  Elliot spares Ilyamay's life, but banishes her and her followers, splitting the tribe. He raises Angel Island into the sky, and Ilyamay does the same with Spirit Island.

Raising her son Ilyamay softens and grows wiser as she ages, forgiving Elliot and praying that both he and Durnam could forgive her.  Not a day goes by that she doesn't miss her daughter Trudine, and until the end of her days she tries to teach her people to be forgiving, even as the memory of their breathren across the sea eventually fades from memory.  After she passes away, she reunites with both Trudine and Durnam in heaven.  Eventually Elliot joins them, and the three are close again, as they were in their youth.

This closeness comes into play when Amadi, who had already snatched Casselina and Teikaru from hell, imprisoning the former and rewarding the latter, decides to take Ilyamay next, accusing her for splitting the original tribe.  Not too long before this, Zuko, a Rogue Guardian who is Kyoushiro's other brother, is released from prison, after promising not to cause trouble, so he can be an uncle to Deannalee's twins, Tidus and Loralai, who are his niece and nephew.  He's also Akylas's uncle, her and her stillborn twin sister, Laiya, being Eclipse's daughters, Eclipse being the third brother, however since Ryu has adopted Akylas and Eclipse was the brother that neither Zuko nor Kyoushiro liked in the end, he's more there for Dee's twins than for Akylas.

As he is settling into life with the others he hears about Ilyamay and helps rescue her from hell before she can suffer the same fate Casselina did.  He's immediately smitten by her, even as he is unsure if she will stay or not.  Durnam came down to help her, but she does not immediately go back to heaven, as her time and torment from hell won't allow her to rest just yet.  Durnam stays with her, and she spends time with her extended family.  She bonds with Zuko gradually as well. He takes the step of morphing into an echidna form from his natural pegasus form, out of a desire to be with her.

Uncertainty blossoms into assurance when they fall in love.  Though Ilyamay had her two children and her first husband, Matidas, in the afterlife, she knows they would want her to follow her heart, and so she does, much in the same way that Durnam stays for Cassiopeia, and Elliot much more recently, for Sakurya. The three of them are once again close, and though I haven't listed it, their children, Durnam's daughter Sanae, who is born a few days after Ryou, Durnam's twin boys, Alikata and Akilesh, and Elliot's future daughter, Megumi, are pretty much like cousins.

Ryou if you couldn't tell takes a great deal after her mother. She enjoys free fitting clothes as opposed to being bundled up. She loves the beach, and practicing with her elements.  She's got a stubborn streak, but it's not just from Ilyamay, but also her father.  She's sassy and tough, but often wonders about the life her mother used to live, and even about the older half-siblings she doesn't always get to see.

She's got the pink from Ilyamay, the blue hair from Zuko, and the blue eyes could come from either of them. Since Zuko had changed into an echidna by that point, Ryou is a full blooded one as well, or at the very least has the appearance of it, unlike Tidus and Loralai who have the hints of pegasus in them.
