RP Anniversary: Roku Bloom

Next up for October!!

Sketched on paper, flat color in SAI. Next picture in a series I'm doing, drawing the kids from mine and Gem's RP a year to the day they were first used, got it? Good!

I say first used. This will be the case MOST of the time. There are a few instances where the kids are born and it's stated that they're born, but for one reason or another they aren't used until a later day. If that happens I'll be posting them on the day that they are BORN. If they're used the first time on a different day then I'll state that in the description, or on the picture itself.

First used the same day he is born, and wow...Mariko is born in RP 26 but it takes getting to RP 509 for Roku to be born XD Shadow and Claudia wait a long while for their children; they're waiting on their next, a little girl, and she'll be born after Roku's birthday obviously so...they've waited at least a year between each child.  I don't think any of the other couples have done that...well, perhaps besides Ariadne and Develon, and Bianca and Adalia come to mind but, yeah it's still special XD

While Mariko is born premature and needs a lot of extra love and care when she is small, Roku comes out at just the right time, a good size, and is very healthy. Much to UnDark's relief he looks nothing like Shadow, which, you can clearly see is sarcasm, but everyone humors UnDark.  He still insists Autumn's children look nothing like her either.

Roku's very unique though...he's the first to get the mask that is signature to Omega's family from two parents that don't have it themselves.  The thing about Shadow and Claudia is they're both tied to Omega but aren't related by blood.  It's tricky; Serpent created UnLight and UnDark using DNA from his family, which is where UnLight gets his brown color from, and why UnDark looks like a mini of both Serpent and Omega.  However, their DNA chains are not identical, so they're technically not related.  Serpent more or less just took whatever features he wanted when making them.  So...it's not incest for Shadow and Claudia to be together, same for Autumn and Othadious.

UnLight and UnDark hardly see each other as family even with their kids together XD

But yes it explains that Roku could have gotten the Omega mask from either Shadow or Claudia even though neither of them have it; even if UnLight doesn't have it it could have come from his side. However, the more probable explanation is it came from Claudia's side, since the mask runs so strong in UnDark's family.

Roku winds up quite tall and strong when he grows up.  He's got a lot of Shadow's personality, being upbeat and fun, quite enjoying jokes, but he has a quiet side that likes to emerge, where he'll get silent and want time alone like his mother. He can even play the violin like she does.  Like any Spade, he learns to fight, and he likes to practice with his cousins.  Though younger than the older boys, Matikai and Naoko, he looks up to them and learns from them.  Being so close to Saboru and Orotei in age the three cousins are quite close.  Roku is also very close to his mother and grandmother.

He gets along quite well with UnDark, which, is huge since UnDark just only barely tolerates Shadow and Autumn, only accepting them in consideration for his children's feelings.  Yet Roku and the other grandchildren do have UnDark's love; Roku goes a step further and earns UnDark's respect, never crying or whining very much as a child, and accepting punishment when it is due.  This, along with Mariko and their younger sister, helps to bridge the divide between UnDark and Shadow, and really as time goes by he only says he hates Shadow out of stubbornness.  The same goes for Autumn, whom UnDark is much easier on after upsetting Othadious in the months before Orotei is born.

Along with the Omega mask, Roku has the side locks that are signature to UnLight only they face the other way; he's got Shadow's blond hair in his bangs, and Shadow's red eyes, as well as his lynx ears.  Roku get his white and black fur, and the tail from Claudia.  He also has the spade mark that all of the kids in UnDark and Ophelia's family have received; similar to Orotei's, it is on his ear, although he only has one while Orotei has the two. Also, obviously he has the echidna muzzle.

Oddly enough I don't think any of Shadow and Claudia's children have the white, furry lynx muzzle. The new baby sister has been designed and she doesn't lol ironic no? XP
