Feuding Guardians

Okay, so, before we continue with Verse 6, I decided to give you a visual of Elliot, Durnam, and Ilyamay.

For those who don't keep up with the story, (EVERYONE), these are the descendants of Kashoku, ruling his village some 800 years after his death.

Elliot is the one on the far left, with his arms crossed. He is the Guardian of the Master Emerald, and also the bearer of the Blood of the Son of Strength, wearing the birthmark on his face, under his eye. He has one son, Ethendore, who has already inherited the mark, and the blood, from his father.

Durnam is the echidna below him, distracted by something XD He is Elliot's younger brother, and while he isn't the one wearing the crown of Kashoku, he can also wield the Master Emerald, and so the brothers protect it together. He has two sons, Hinsei and Armund, and is beloved by all the village, no matter which guardian they follow. He's the first and only descendant of Kashoku to resemble him so closely.

Elliot and Durnam are both descended from Sutei-Midoka, Kashoku's son. They are direct descendants; the father to son chain has not been broken once from Kashoku all the way to Ethendore, Hinsei, and Armund. Kashoku's son Sutei has many other descendants by this point, but these are the only ones that have passed directly from father to son after 800 years.

On the right is Ilyamay, the Guardian of the Master Jewel and the current bearer of the blood of the Master of the Elements. For the descendants of Alamalie, Kashoku's daughter, they do things differently, and cherish Ilyamay because she is descended directly from Alamalie from mother to daughter in an unbroken chain.

Ilyamay has a daughter, Trudine. She is the oldest of the three monarchs, and while she doesn't look it in this picture, at the time of the War of the Jewels, she is heavily pregnant with her second child.

Alamalie also has numerous descendants, all of which follow Ilyamay as their queen. Because of marriages and births over the past 800 years, all of them have a touch of Elemental Control, whether it's over all of the elements, or just one or two. Ilyamay's husband, Matidas, can only control water, while Ilyamay wields them all as a master, and Trudine is already following in her mother's footsteps.

Followers of Elliot follow his example and use physical force as their first choice of combat, along with weapons. They specialize in the Ancient Arts, which Kashoku brought to them when he first came to the village.

UnDark's job is to stir up mistrust between the two Guardians, which he has already done at this point in the story. The echidnas have all taken sides, supporting either Elliot and Ilyamay, and now a stand off has begun. Both Elliot and Ilyamay want the other monarch to step down, and renounce their ties to Kashoku and the village, each made to fear that the other only wants to destroy them.

Thanks to UnDark, the village is now on the brink of war.

Only Durnam remains removed from the struggle. Though he stands with his brother, he walks freely through the village, going between each side, continuing his job of speaking with all of the villagers and addressing their concerns. While he's with Elliot, nobody expects him to take a side, and it is he who begins talks for peace.

It is agreed that the fighting should stop; the village has decided they no longer want two guardians, however. All of them want Durnam to unite them under one banner, and be their new king, restoring to them the glory of Kashoku and the Golden Days.

Durnam has no idea what to do, but UnDark does. Realizing that Durnam threatens to undo all of his work, he determines he must land a deeper blow, something that will destroy the echidna tribe forever...something not even poor Durnam can fix.

Anyway, as for the picture; Elliot looks like crap, Durnam looks okay, and Ilyamay is beautiful <3 Ilyamay is thought to be the first descendant to resemble Lady Mitsukai the most. And Elliot and Durnam's blue arm bands? They're supposed to go on the left arm...but I guess after 800 years they're more than welcome to have switched the arm they go on

Can Durnam reunite and save the village? Or will UnDark destroy them first? Can Shadow get away from UnLight quickly enough to save them?
